What is SaaS?
SaaS design is interface work for software: dashboards, admin tools, account areas, learning platforms, onboarding flows, and the design systems that hold them together as the product grows. The craft is in hierarchy and state rather than in decoration. What somebody sees on their first visit, on their fortieth, and when something goes wrong, are three different design problems.
SaaS is one of the disciplines under Experience Design.
Who needs SaaS?
You have a product with good bones and an interface that undersells it. Or you are building screens ad hoc with nothing holding them together, and the fortieth one is taking as long as the fourth. This work pays for itself in the design system as much as in the screens, because it is what makes the next release fast.
